eLearning Methodology

Lexlife follows a proven methodology steeped in experiences and best practices

It’s not luck that allows Lexlife to create a high standard of eLearning engagement and success.  Decades of experience have come together along with best practices to produce a methodology that allows us to add value every time.

Lexlife has a 5-step approach to creating eLearning success for clients….

Step #1: Understanding the Audience

eLearning is always about the learner. For us to do our job, we need to know…

  • Who they are
  • Their eLearning needs
  • Interests
  • Learning styles and/or preferences

The focus is to create an environment where learners are actively engaged, can enjoy self-directed learning, and be encouraged to take responsibility for their education.

There are five best practices in creating a learner-centric approach:

  1. Personalised Learning: Tailoring content, pace, and methods to individual learners’ needs and abilities.
  2. Active Learning: Emphasising participation through discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities.  This is also known as eLearning Gamification.
  3. Collaboration: Encouraging teamwork and peer interactions to foster shared eLearning.
  4. Autonomy: Allowing learners to make choices about their learning paths and encouraging self-reflection and critical thinking.
  5. Continuous Feedback: Providing data-driven feedback to guide improvement and drive the evolution of course content and eLearning programs.

Step #2: Creating the Content

If designing content was straightforward, everyone would copy and paste from Google, and distribute to the audience.

The process of creating eLearning course content and planning how it’s presented is complex.  On top of this is the need to contextualise content for a learner’s role.

This is part of the secret sauce of course content creation and design.

This is what sets Lexlife apart.

Step #3: Designing the Learning Resources

Once the course content is created, the next challenge comes in taking this content and formatting and structuring the content in a way that drives learning and engagement.

This is where

  1. Gamification strategies are born
  2. Individual learner pathways are designed
  3. The contextual learning is created
  4. Simulation and interactive learning is mapped out

Lexlife takes the content and creates the plan that ensures the engagement.

It’s important to understand the distinction between course content creation and this step, which is the planning and mapping of eLearning experiences.   This is another strength of Lexlife and forms another part of the secret sauce.

Lexlife Solutions has experience in organisational development, software development, teaching and learning sciences.   The most effective model we use to develop eLearning is for the ‘Reluctant Learner’.

Step #4: Technical Delivery

Once the eLearning content is created and the eLearning journeys are mapped out, the next step is integrating all planned experiences to a system that brings everything to life.

This ability to accurately translate the plan to a technical system is another piece of the secret sauce.

There is high risk in handing eLearning plans over to third party technical vendors.  This is why Lexlife has this technical expertise in-house to ensure the high standard of technical translation to all eLearning plans.

Not only does the eLearning plan need to be followed precisely, but it must render on multiple screen types: desktop, tablet, and mobile.

This is where eLearning Management Systems (LMS) and Authoring Tools come into play. Articulate 360 is one of these systems.

Step #5: Evaluation

The eLearning function is all about continuous improvement.  Ensuring course material and the eLearning experience deliver value.

While it’s great to receive opinions from learners, the real story is told in the behavioural data.

Delivering a high standard of ongoing asynchronous eLearning requires assessing the behavioural data, which will inform decision-making for future eLearning programs.

The Lexlife team has specialists who gather data and produce insights to help clients understand what worked and what can be improved on to ensure success.
